Born in 1966 Education 1990-1997 Academy of Fine Arts in Prague Tomáš Vaněk is one of the most remarkable contemporary Czech artists. In a seemingly inconspicuous way, he participates in the reality which we tend to take for granted. Since 1999, he has been creating what he calls Particips; images conceived for a certain place and sprayed over a stencil. The particips are numbered and include the artist’s commentary. What is interesting about his approach is that he creates situations rather than artifacts. At the exhibition of the finalists, he has presented fascinating sprayed illustrations based on Josef Lada with shifts in both visuality and meaning. Web: http://www.particip.tv
