Astrit Ismaili

Astrit Ismaili is a performance maker operating between theater and visual arts. His practice involves different mediums and mainly explores body politics and identity. In his recent work, he investigates on finding relationships between particular images and sounds. He won the Award for Best Director at the Skena Up International Student Festival 2011 and best performance in 2015, received the Forum ZDF follow-up Grant 2013 and won the Awards for Best Video Performance and Best Styling Video at Video Fest 2014. In 2012 he co-organized Prishtine- Mon Amour, one of the biggest performance art event in Pristina. His recent performances include UNIKAT at Dasarts Amsterdam, 2016, Lost&Found Amsterdam, Sirene Berlin, 2016; Good Forever, Dusseldorf, 2016; Come Together, Frascati, Amsterdam, 2016; INNOC€NT, DasArts Amsterdam, The Netherlands 2015; Spielart, Munich, Germany, 2016; Read in Cinema, at Het Veem Theater, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 2015; Crave, Skena Up – International Film and Theater Festival, Prishtina, Kosovo, 2014; The Day I Became a Popstar, DasArts Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 2014; Keep it Beautiful, Theater Spektakel, Zurich, Switzerland, 2014; and Perception at ISCP (open studios) New York City, USA (2011). His work has also been featured at: FLAM festival at Artie et Amicitiae Amsterdam and Treitlsaal, Vienna, Austria, 2015; LOVE.STATE.KOSOVO with Beatrice Fliechlin and Antje Schupp was performed in various locations in Switzerland, Germany, and Kosovo (2013); and in Silent Protests, Stacion – Center of Contemporary Art Prishtina, Kosovo, 2013. His visual art has been shown in the Muslim Mulliqi X exhibition, National Gallery of Kosovo, Prishtina, Kosovo, 2013, among other exhibitions.
