Pavlína Fichta Čierna's work is situated within the fields of media art, video and performance. Fichta’s approach is characterized by empathy, the ability to understand and share feelings of other people. It’s focused on people who found themselves in challenging situations, trying to find balance and a sense of happiness in their lives. She is researching situations in which people are being dependent on various forms of support, and also those where people seek to help themselves on their own. Her unique interactive pieces situated within public and social spaces, containing a tangible sociological dimension, represent various forms of artistic research. Besides cultural, historical and social connections, communication plays here an important role. In the public space, Fichta is pointing out economical and social questions, and she is situating herself into a role of an outsider while examining various links within in the context of an urban environment. Her work is part of collections, such as MACBA, Barcelona; MOT, Tokyo; Małopolska Fundacja MSW, Kraków; and Slovak National Gallery.
