Valko Chobanov works in painting, video art, and performance. He graduated in Scenography from the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv, Bulgaria and in Digital Arts from the National Academy of Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Chobanov has participated in exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad, including Immersion - Background: Young Artists from Plovdiv, curated by Vera Mlechevska, Bulgarian Embassy in Helsinki, Finland (2018); My dear provincialist, Swimming Pool, Sofia, Bulgaria (2017); and Places of Pleasure as part of Multipolis organized by The Fridge, Sofia City Art Gallery, Sofia, Bulgaria (2017). Chobanov held is first solo exhibition Inorganic / Organic at Coffee&Gallery Cu29, Plovdiv, Bulgaria, with the support of the Gaudenz B. Ruf Award (2017). His video artworks have been shown in the 2018 Bad Video Art Festival, Moscow, and in Niglo (2017) as well as in #VERYSHORTFILMFEST @ Vine (2013).

Chobanov’s original performance Pizza slut was part of the 2015 DA Fest at EXAF art gallery and While I have a pale cultural dissonance, yeah like whatever fuck it and feelings and stuff (2017) and LOL (2018) were part of the program as part of the Performance Art Festival Sofia Underground.
